YOUTH MISSIONS PURPOSE/OVERVIEW
PURPOSE STATEMENT
To offer our young people opportunities to see needs first hand, help in meeting those needs, and open themselves up to hear God's call on their lives.

Goals
1. Greater understanding of servanthood
2. An experience of teamwork
3. An increased awareness of their own church because they understand that the world and God's people are larger and more varied than they had known before
4. An intense desire to pursue God's will for their lives
5. An increased willingness to consider missionary service
6. Experience a vulnerability that is only found away from one's home and demands full dependence upon God
7. A closer relationship with Christ due to a deeper understanding of the true meaning of life
* Local mission opportunities throughout the year
Knox Area Rescue Ministries

Service projects
*Most 101 trips won't be overnight
Youth Missions 201
* Annual trip to a mission withing 3-6 hours of Knoxville
* Youth completing 6th grade and above are eligible
* Preference will be given to students who have participated in 101 events
* Most 201 trips are Sunday through Saturday (6 days)
* Approximate cost: $200-$300
Youth Missions 301
*Annual trip that alternates in and out of the continental U.S.
* Youth completing 9th grade and above are eligible
* Preference will be given to students who have participated in 101 & 201
* On even years (i.e. 2010) = 301a (in the continental U.S.)
* On odd years (i.e. 2011) = 301b (outside the continental U.S.)
* Most 301 trips are 7-12 days
* 301a approximate cost $250-$500
* 301b approximate cost $500-$1000

* Occur as requested by youth
* Youth completing 11th grade and above are eligible
* Youth will be partnered with a missionary or missions organization
* Most 401 trips are 6-8 weeks
* Approximate cost $1000+
