9300 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37931  (865) 357-9822

On July 28, 2019, the church is leaving the building and heading down to Ball Camp Elementary School to prep and pray.

If you haven’t filled out the form, click here to let us know you’re coming.

Here are some details you’ll need to know:

  • Work begins at 9:30am, the Prayer Assembly begins at 11:15am, and we should be done by 11:45am.
  • Enter the main entrance to the school parking lot from Ball Camp Pike. Our Parking Team will direct you to a spot. If the lot is filled, our Parking Team will direct you down Ball Camp Pike to overflow parking at Nicholas Ball Park where our Parking Team will shuttle you to and from the school.
  • Once you’ve parked, enter the building through the main entrance where our Guest Services Team will direct you to the appropriate area.
  • A nursery for babies and toddlers will be provided. Guest Services will direct you.
  • We can only use one set of restrooms in order to keep the others sanitized and reduce the workload for the custodial staff. The restrooms we can use are closest to the front entrance. All other restrooms will be taped off.
  • DO NOT enter any classrooms. Principal Brengle is allowing us to use one empty classroom for our Nursery. Otherwise, we are only allowed to open classroom doors in order to wipe the door knobs and clean the door glass on both sides.
  • Megan Middlebrooks will be capturing video of our event, but we’d love all the photos you can upload. Use #loveknox to share your photos on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.
  • Though there is much to be done, we are more interested in doing every task with TLC and prayer than trying to blitz through a To Do List. Take your time, make it look excellent, and pray for every child and adult who will be here in a few weeks.

Because some of the prep has already been done, our task list has changed a little. If you haven’t already been directly assigned a task, here are the primary tasks to choose from:

Outdoor Areas: We’ll need about 30 people to come ready to split into three teams to pull weeds, spread mulch, and tidy up the three outdoor areas. These teams will be led by Heather Baldy (Outdoor Garden), Brad Wing (Courtyard), and MaKenzee Mullins (Art Patio). If you marked that you are interested in the Outdoor Areas or can be put anywhere, bring your garden gloves and any tools you’d like to bring to accomplish these tasks.

Windows: There are about a hundred windows to wash, so we’ll probably need about 35 people to take on this task who we will divide into 7 teams. We’re bringing the window washing solution and microfiber rags, but feel free to bring your favorite squeegee. If you marked an interest in washing windows or said to put you anywhere, this is our 2nd largest area of need.

Hallways: The school has prepared all of the classrooms and has asked us to stay out of them, but they would like us to dust everything in the hallways and wipe down every door knob. If you can help in this area, bring an extendable duster if you have one. We’ll bring the supplies for wiping door knobs. We probably need about 20 people for this task who we’ll split into four teams.

Cafeteria: We’ve been tasked with wiping every table/chair top and leg with warm soapy water. Plus we’ll help assemble our teacher gift packages in the cafeteria. This will be a great place to involve ages from 2 year-old and up and anyone with mobility issues. We’ll have everything you need for these tasks, so you don’t need to bring anything. David and Brittany Springer are heading up this area, and Meriam Bull is organizing the teacher gift packages.

Teacher Break Rooms: We want to make sure the microwaves, refrigerators, and sinks in the teacher’s areas are spick and span. Though this won’t require more than ten people, it is such an important task for letting the teachers know we love them. You supply the elbow grease, and we’ll supply everything else you’ll need.

Here are some other assigned tasks. If you’d like to join one of these, contact the leader before Sunday to see if they can use more help:

  • Guest Services: Led by Nichi Barnhart with Emily McDaneld & Gary Andrews
  • Parking: Led by Randy Farris with Ron Telep, Doug Fair, and Joe & Kelley Krauss
  • Assembly Room: Led by Kaleb Mullins with Travis Griffin, Tommy, Paula, & Katie Eggleston, and Kathleen & Rebecca Churchman
  • Videographer: Megan Middlebrooks
  • 9300 Greeter: Duane Calhoun
  • Bird House: Joseph Toro
